Big Orange Scott

Jul. 1st, 2006 08:25 am Southern Justice

We always hear that your local Police and Sheriff Departments are there to "Protect and Serve". Sometimes that gets all bent out of shape and they do what they want, when they want, to who they want. Not all Officers of the law behave in that way as we all know. But there is always that little percentage of ones who commit horrendous crimes only to get a slap on the wrist or a reduced sentence, or even a conviction by jury overturned by the judge to a much lesser charge that carries a not as stiff sentence. The families of the victims seem to be overlooked in this time of judical chaos. The community can only sit back in puzzled awe that something like this can happen.

Personal vendettas are executed by a law enforcement officer daily. Power of the badge as some would call it. But when that power of the badge is used in a murder that killed a father of small children is stepping over the line. These children and their mother are never going to look at law enforcement the same way ever again. They will grow up being intimidated and fearful of police, especially since they know that their daddy was shot by a police officer. Their father wasn't killed in a high speed chase, he did not rob no bank, or even commit a crime. But even so he was shot fifteen times by a police officer, eight of those in the back.

This officer even testified in court that he kicked the door in, seen his wife(that he was legally seperated from) watching TV with this man, and unloaded his department issued Glock into him. I realize that a First degree murder conviction is proably one of the most complicated charges to prosecute in our judical system. But when the officer confesses and is convicted of an even lesser charge what gives a judge the right to overturn the conviction by the jury.

Evidence, testimony and the deliberation of the jury should have held and the charge presented should have been enforced. The officer was originally convicted of second-degree murder by a jury of his peers but that was overturned and reduced to voluntary manslaughter. Also dismissed charges of felony murder and aggravated assault were thrown out. What is the point of having your case tried by a jury of your peers if the judge is going to not take into account the decision they recommend.

This officer was faced with life in prison and with the possibility of parole after fifty one years behind bars. But now after the overturn he only gets twelve years in prison for a shooting of an innocent man during a jealous rampage. Makes a person think that "vigilante" justice prevailed. Was this officer a self-appointed doer of justice? Does the system only work for some? So some officers(and judges) aren't a reflection of the community?

Jun. 25th, 2006 07:45 pm Wonder If?

Almost three weeks have past and still haven't made sense of what is going on around me. Seems that in a time of tragedy you dont look at things the same as ya did...well...like ya did the day before for instance. Maybe you go to the same gas station everyday at the same time...but never notice the clerk's smile...you only can bitch and moan about taking so long in line. Then one day as ya standing in line you notice that clerk as the familiar aqquaintance not just as the one who takes your money. Things arent always as you percieve them.

With that being said. The internet is usually that clerk...its always there and you never seem to take into account that others reading your werds maybe wont interpet the way you have wrote them. Its it one of the easiet forms of "trash talking" available. You can post in a forum or message board under "alias's" and then sugar coat the same subject when you are face to face with that person.

He said she said has been around since the beginning of the dictionary. It is something that will never stop. For some reason it has became trendy to "trash talk". People might say you are stupid, cocky, smartass or even a ignorant asshole, but that is only their werds. Only you can make those werds have any meaning.

You take a new postion at your place of employment. The promotion is one that puts you in charge of people with more seniority than you. No matter how you preform your job there will always be snide and whispering remarks about you and your push. There will be some that are dead set on making you less than a sucess in the eye of the higher ups. But also there will be people you werked right along side with on the line that want to help you suceed so you remember them the next time there is an opening. There are some who are fundementally more sound than others to do a certain job. But as I have been told growing up..."whoever you step on to get to the top...you pass on the way down".

"Joe Smith" has to feel at least disappointed that all his accomplisments with the company have been largely passed over. Its a pity that "Joe Smith" has spent uncounted days doing the unexpected and could have been the prime of his werk history on the sidelines. He might just be the missing ingrediant to the recipe....but you forgot to add that ingredient.

Its so easy to insert "Joe Smith" in a conversation on the internet. Even though you werk side by side with "Joe Smith" everyday, you dont take into consideration the time and effort he has put forth in his time with the company. Or the longevity he has planned...its all about "YOU" and yer feelings, thoughts and success. If "Joe" and the rest of the line people dont show up for a shift......can you do your job the way you are suppose to? Will the production quota be reached for that day? What will the higher ups think now? Many seem to think that a company will suffer once they are gone ....but they fail to realize that company was in buisness before they got there...and will be when they are gone. Dont burn the bridge that gets you to the office to get paid.

"Joe Smith" might just be that clerk!.....Or are you the Clerk?

Jun. 21st, 2006 09:33 pm Ever wondered

Have you ever sat and thought about the things that you were taught years back? And who taught you what and when? Like....

Who was holding yer hand when you took yer first step?
Who threw you yer first fastball...
Who was sitting next to you on yer first bus ride to an away game?...
Who was the teacher that ya hated the most but learnt the most from?....
Who was the person you thought ya couldnt live without only to find out that wasnt the person fer you?.

There are things you might not remember but then there are things that stick out in yer mind like the trust that you had with yer best friend in elementary school.  Would you go back and change anything about yer past?  Or are you comfortable with the way you have chosen to live yer life?  Lotta questions that seem so trivial but when you put some thought into the answers,  you will amaze yerself at the reaction that comes from within.

Take the road life gives you, or turn around and go back. Its a simple equation....some folks think that things should be handed to them while some work their asses off to get a few feet down the highway of life. I know we all have heard "If it werth having its werth werkin fer!". But that seems to be something that today's society has all but forgot. Loyalty is also a thing of the past. Why be loyal to someone who gives you an opportunity of a lifetime? They owed it to ya?

No one owes us nothing!!!!!!!

Jan. 12th, 2006 08:10 pm Another Day in Orange Paradise

Report Cards made their way into the house tonight....Not a "D" in sight, hell for that matter there was only 2 "C's" ....Its shocking how kids just take the ball and run with what you teach them. My wife and I have always stressed how important an education was to our kids, but they dont ever like bring home backpack of books and such. So...I was thinking..."Dayuuuuuum I will hate to see their report cards when they
get into their real schoolwork".

Big Dawg brought home A's and B's( more A's than B's...<>)...He really does great work. Its amazing how mature and responsible he is for his age. But still a kid at heart...Gawd was I blessed when he came out the chute!

Lasey brought home a great looking report card too. She was the one who skeered me. Damn girl has her momma's mouth and temper...its a wonder she aint been kicked outta school already(Just kidding). She is a doll. Works really hard to do all the right things and stay on the right track. That chute popped out another good one!<<>>

Cheyenne ...she's a different kind of kid..girls sucks at doing her homework, but give her a test...its like BOOM...all the right answers( I think they swapped her at birth...lol).But she figgered out that you cant play sports without turning in your homework on time. Thanks Volleyball and basketball....She got some game to be a fourth grader.Chute's a perfect 3 for 3!

Last but not least by any figment of the imagination...

DUCK...This lil sh*t has a head fer numbers lemme tell ya.Only seven year old I ever seen that looks at the way the textbook tells them to add something and says "Daddy its easier doing it this way"...97% in math on his card...Good Job DUCK! But....yes seems there is always a but. He is a great reader and a wiz at math...but his spelling sucks...Hoked on Foniks dint werk fer him...lol.Even so...Chute did it again...Another good child.

I guess what I am trying to say is....Dayuuuuuuuuuuuuum I am so proud of the work ethic and the responsibility my kids show.It is a very special feeling to know that everything you have tried to teach your kids while growing up...they soak in and use! Even when you think they are not listening to what you are saying,,,they are hanging on yer every lesson.

I am so thankful to have been blessed with FOUR WONDERFUL ANGELS!

Jan. 11th, 2006 08:01 am Ramble'n

As I do my morning reading of the obituaries of the local paper back home this am as usual. I notice that my fourth grade teacher Ms Walters passed away at 88 years young. WOW...Its amazing how you can forget someone's phone number or an appointment but when it comes to teachers ...you remember it like it was yesterday. We are talking almost 35 years ago. She had the corner classroom (the one with no window)right across from the library. Very detailed lady, one that had a knack for skeer'n ya into doing all the right things. She had a yardstick cut into three pieces then taped together....you acted up in her class, she would bring you to her desk in front of everyone, grab your fingers, bend them down, and swat the palm of yer hand three times. OMY fluckin gawd....that hurt! I guess that one thing she taught everyone that was in her class was "Every action has a consequence!". Rest in Peace Ms Walters.

Now onto the GOOD NEWS!...My Vols take on UGA tonight in Thompson Boling arena...Coach Pearl has brought new life to Vol Nation's Mens basketball. Great start this season and looks as if we are on track to a solid showing within the SEC East.

My condolences to all Wildcat fans out there....Ya got ate up by a flock of birds(Jayhawks) and then get flushed by the commodes(Vandy Commodores) in Rape..oops Rupp Arena. Are we seein the downfall of THE GREAT UK basketball team? It breaks my heart to see such tragedy strike such a wholesome program as UK....ROFLMFFAO...NOT...Ok...I said after our dismal year on the football field this year I would not "rag" a program that looks as if they are going south....but....this is UK we are talking about...The team with history...eight banners....and almost fergot...The team that lost their 2006 SEC opener to a team they have dominated since the late 70's...Cant wait for the excuses that start coming outta the Blue Nations mouths...

Till the next post....Its ALL ORANGE...Go VOLS!

Started going up there a few months back with my friend BW3....just wanted to say that all the guys in this company are DTE(Down To Earth). As I have stated before ...it seems all the guys up there do whatever it takes to make a good product....Its like my father in law used to say " You give a customer what he wants....ya got him hooked forever"...thats the way of thinking the guys at SCW have. The ones that cant werk that way...well they head right out the door!

Going over the hill now to Television Rasslin...I grew up on CH13 and CH5 wrestling in Memphis. When they were doing 11:00 live events at WHBQ it was hard as hell to watch on TV(No cable back then)...we lived about 90 mile from Memphis so that antenna outside was yer only signal..and ya hoped it wasnt yer day to be the antenna guy...cause the antenna window was right behind the TV. Looked forward every Sat to hearing "Hello again everybody Lance Russell and Dave Brown right along ringside ready to go with another BIG day of Championship Rasslin"

Growing up we seen the likes of..
Kurt and Karl Von Brauner w/Saul Weindroff
Len Rossi & Bearcat Brown
Sonny King
Jerry Lawler & Jim White w/Sam Bass
Dr Ken Ramey and The Interns
Mighty Yankees w/JC Dykes
Fabulous Jackie Fargo
Tojo and Jerry Jarrett
Tommy Gilbert & Eddie Marlin
Don and Al Greene w/Sir Clements

So many great guys werked Ch 13 and surrounding areas...These guys made a HIGH SCHOOL GYM show...ya was in awe! They shore could werk the crowd! Till the next post....Its ALL ORANGE...Go VOLS!

Jan. 10th, 2006 01:46 pm Here's a start

Random thoughts today are numerous. Once you lay on an emergency room bed for over three hours, what else can you do besides think? Had a bad allergic reaction to something yesterday and and had more welts than Tina Turners back after Ike gotta hold of her during their heydays. One thing good about the whole ordeal was.....my lovely wife never left my side!

Sometimes people take their partnership in marriage too lightly.I am one who was guilty of that thru our early years. As most people know by now...my wife and children are my BEST friends and are the most important components of my significant being. After spending most of your adult life with one person it seems to turn you into a different person. Not only has the relationship with my wife been one that I would not trade for anything(Not even 50 yard line Vol tickets..;-( )but time that I chersih....being able to spend it with her.

Many many miles we have traveled up and down highways...New York to Miami...Miami to Texas...Texas to the Carolina's...Carolina's to Montana but outta all them miles and endless conversations....I found out who was the most interesting person I have ever met! Laughter and heartache we have had in our years together, but the keyword being together makes it all easier!

I guess the point being...Last night when I was at my worst and not being the supportive one in our marriage....She stepped up to the plate and made everything OK!
